In June, members of the Scandinavian Chamber of Commerce in Estonia had the opportunity to visit Protex Balti AS at their production facility in Tallinn.
We started with a guided tour of the facilities, where we got to see the production first-hand and follow the different stages of the manufacturing process. It quickly became clear just how broad the applications of textiles can be and how much expertise and precision goes into the products made at Protex Balti.
Particularly interesting was seeing products that go far beyond traditional clothing. Protex Balti produces highly specialised textile solutions used in areas such as medical technology and mobility, including products designed to support people with reduced mobility. Seeing these products being made and learning about their real-life applications gave us a completely different perspective on modern textile manufacturing.
Following the tour, we sat down to hear more about Protex Balti’s history and development, from its Norwegian roots dating back to 1966 to its operations in Estonia today. We also learned more about the company’s work with technical and smart textiles, technology and product development.
The visit ended with an open discussion and plenty of questions from our members about the company, its products and the future of textile manufacturing.
A big thank you to the Helena and the whole Protex Balti team for welcoming us and giving us such an interesting look behind the scenes!
